Notes:-Downed tools to get a quick burn on the bike. Saw Sonic riding out of Orton On the Hill and we had a chat, nice to see him and it would be great to get on the bike with him. Have been taking it a bit easy this week as the symptoms of kidney stones have only just abated. We also had some awful news on Monday about William Kingham who was killed in a car accident, he was only 15.
Had a VC today with Tony, John and Kate about my secondment, its never good when the 3 get together. I was hoping to get some steer on when they want me to return given the discussions with DHSC. The usual issues with them not being able to connect ensued so I set up a webex. The meeting was more of an update on their plans to essentially move me on I think. They have had some external consultancy do an assessment of the AHSN as a whole, they didnt speak to me which is telling… Tony has been trailing this with me for a few weeks so Im not surprised by where this is heading. Tony presented some woolly plan to create an enhanced COO role, he mentioned changes to the AHSNs nationally and Kate said something about the HIM innovation pipeline work and how this will reshape our work which essentially allows them to advertise my role. Nothing is set in stone but I would need to apply for the role and apparently they are looking for someone to get more involved operationally with the main programmes of work. There was some comment from Kate about them realising the issues with some of the programmes of work and with them having to get more hand son and the fact that the current distributed leadership model was not working. The term no shit sherlock sprung to mind… and what the fuck has WMAHSN been doing for the last 9 months. There may be other opportunities, but these are not clear and there was not steer despite me asking several times if they wanted me to return in Jan and support this difficult work. So I am in limbo, the idea of working on the Test and Trace programme for much longer , whilst find the work highly challenging and rewarding, Im also exhausted. Or return to the WMAHSN to do, well what exactly… I need to think about this over the weekend.
