Notes:-Walk to Thors Cave with Eddy. Up at Bank House farm campsite next to the Manifold inn in Derbyshire. Drove up yesterday and met up with Eds and Matt. Quite eventful getting to the campsite and putting up the tent. Left home just before 12. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so I took my time and stopped half way to give the engine some time to cool. Headed back onto the dual carriageway and after a couple of miles the engine cut out. It actually sort of petered out then stalled. Luckily managed to roll it into a layby. It wouldnt then restart. Spent 10 mins or so tying to investigate the issue with Lee on the phone, all cables to the condenser were on, checked distributer cables all ok. Engine was turning over but not firing. Thought it might be the fuel pump. Lee said it’s worth leaving it for a while then try starting again. It did fire up about 10 mins later. Ran flawlessly the rest of the way… including some steep climbs. Got to the campsite and then spent a good hour trying to get the tent up in the wind. Odd combination of searing hot sun and high gusts of wind. Tent took off with me and Mat holding on. Ripped pegs out of the ground, snapped a pole and two guide ropes and cut a rope burn into one of my fingers. That was all the drama over, spent evening in the pub and van drinking beer and catching up. Great time, loved it. Mat had to go in the morning so Eds and I did a hike to Thors cave, another great day.
